In February 2016 we will be hosting another National Sports Roadshow, in collaboration with Careers in Sport. Last year’s event was a great success but we are keen to make the 2016 version even bigger and better. As part of that we want to make sure that the programme matches exactly what you – our students, from all of our programmes – would most appreciate. We would therefore like to establish a Student Steering Group to participate in the planning of presentations, activities and invitations to schools and sporting and health organisations.
The Steering Group’s work will mainly be undertaken in October, and it should not be too time consuming. The benefits of membership will be the experience of involvement in the organisation of a national event, the chance to tailor the day to the career interests of you and your fellow students, and the opportunity to network with relevant people and organisations.
It would be great to have representation from all of our programmes. If you would like to get involved, or would like to know more about the Steering Group or the Roadshow, please contact Sandy Willmott.
Bright Futures Education are looking for coaches to help them deliver PE classes at the University. Opportunities are available for students from any of our programmes to gain experience in coaching different sports to Year 10 to 13 students over a six-week period. These opportunities may arise throughout the school year, but please register your interest with Sandy Willmott as early as possible. For the first wave of places, please apply by 5pm on Friday 25th September.
Existing coaching qualifications and experience would be a plus but they are not essential. Applicants would need to show evidence of a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check . If you do not have one of these then it would be well worth applying now: it will allow you take advantage of many more opportunities. Please see Gillian in the School Office if you would like more information about DBS applications.
