School of Sport & Exercise Science Alumni Event (March 9th, 5pm)

All are invited to the School’s annual Alumni Event which is taking place in the Moot Court in the David Chiddick Building (BL1102, Business & Law) between 5.00pm and 7.00pm on Monday 9th March.

This is a great opportunity for students to meet alumni from a range of sport and exercise-related professions, and to gain advice and tips about pursuing diverse careers.  The alumni will introduce themselves briefly, followed by an informal session where you will have the chance to speak to them individually. A buffet and drinks will be provided.

Volunteers Needed for Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, Feb 19th

Lincolnshire Sport are looking for Volunteers to help run a Wheelchair Basketball Tournament this coming Thursday (19th Feb 2015) at Yarborough Leisure Centre. The Tournament runs from 2.00pm-5.00pm and 6.00pm-9.00pm and the tournament organisers are looking for table officials and referees in particular. If any School of Sport & exercise Science students are interested, please could you contact Lindsay Brown in the first instance.

British Cycling National Road Championships – Volunteers Needed!

The British Cycling National Road Championships are coming to Lincoln at the end of June 2015. The time trial will be on Thursday 25th June around the Wolds starting and finishing from Cadwell and the road race on the Sunday, starting and finishing in Lincoln. Friday and Saturday will also see smaller non-professional events around the Bailgate area (hill sprint and a sprint of a circuit around the Castle).

Careers Presentation: Sports Development (Thursday 15th January)

On Thursday 15th January at 5.45pm we are delighted to be able to welcome back two of our graduates to lead a seminar on careers in sports development: Leanne Woodhead (a Development Officer at Nottinghamshire FA, and an SES graduate) and Fiona Houghton (Sports Development Team, Newark and Sherwood District Council, and an SDC graduate). Leanne and Fiona will be talking about their current roles, and also about how they gained the experience and contacts needed to pursue the careers they wanted. The advice and knowledge they will share will be of interest and value to students wanting to work in any field, and all students are encouraged to attend! The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

The seminar will be in the Human Performance Centre, and you do not need to book in advance. Everyone is welcome!

National Sports Roadshow in Lincoln (Thursday 12th February)

The School of Sport & Exercise Science is delighted to be hosting a National Sports Roadshow in the University of Lincoln Sports Centre and Human Performance Centre on Thursday 12th February.

NCR The Roadshow provides a platform for employers, students and professionals to interact with each other. It will feature a Careers Zone (with presentations and seminars on a wide range of careers in sport, exercise and health), a Sport & Fitness Zone, a Health Zone, and sports science workshops.
