Volunteering: Gifted & Talented Workshops (Weds 23rd October)

Volunteers are sought to help with running a range of sports science workshops next Wednesday (23rd Oct). Help is particularly needed in the areas of biomechanics and physiology. Sessions will run from 10:30 to 3:30 (with a lunch break between 12:15 and 1:00), and you would be given all the necessary instruction for the activities.

It will be an interesting opportunity to work with 10-11 year olds who have been identified as highly talented by their schools/regions.

You will also be able to use these hours to fulfill any module-related requirements related to voluntary placements (eg in Employability, RM1 or ISS).

If you would be interested in helping then please contact Danny Taylor at dtaylor@lincoln.ac.uk by Tuesday morning, to confirm your involvement or ask any questions you might have. Thanks!

IMPress Meeting (Tues 22nd October)

Hi everyone! We will have a short group meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd October in the Coaching Suite (after Liam Sander’s talk). We will provide an update on some of the activities people have already started, and a discussion of future events and officer elections.

We have already some offers of help in running the society – thank you for those! – but would have space for a couple more people to assist. Please email us at impresslincoln@gmail.com if you would like to become involved (or would like to know more about the positions available).

Everyone is welcome to the meeting. Please spread the word!

England Cricket Presentation (Tues 22nd October)

We are very pleased to announce that Liam Sanders – performance analyst & biomechanist for the England cricket team – will be giving a presentation about his work in the Coaching Suite at 6pm on Tuesday 22nd October.

The talk is open to all, but could you please email Sandy Willmott at swillmott@lincoln.ac.uk if you would like to attend.

Discounted YMCA Gym Instructor & Personal Trainer Courses

Working in partnership with the YMCA there is the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Gym Instructor (£300) and Level 3 Personal Trainer (£500) qualifications at a vastly reduced cost for students within the School of Sport and Exercise Science.

If you are interested in completing one of the courses please contact the YMCA on courses@lincsymca.co.uk or 01522 888221 to register your details. The YMCA will then be putting together a number of courses to match the interest and demand from our students.

See posters and flyers in the Human Performance Centre for more details.
