Become A Squash Referee – Free Training Workshop (Nottingham)

A great opportunity to receive training and experience as a squash referee:

England Squash are offering students an opportunity to volunteer as a squash referee at the National Schools Championships at Nottingham Squash Club from 7th to 9th March 2016. The event is open to every school and includes schools and squash players of all standards from across the country. The competition has 4 categories – Boys Under 19, Girls Under 19, Boys Under 15 & Girls Under 15.

England Squash are looking to recruit and train volunteers to work as markers and referees at this event. Volunteers will need to attend a FREE Referee Workshop prior to the event and complete the Club Referee Exam. Some knowledge of squash, scoring & basic rules will be required. A minimum of 8 people are needed to make the workshop viable.

The England Squash referee training workshop delivers essential knowledge and understanding of the rules of squash and racketball, providing practical decision making processes to help attendees officiate within a club environment. The workshop is 3 – 4 hours in duration, is delivered in a meeting room/area through interactive activities incorporating quizzes, pairs/group work, PowerPoint presentation and video clip analysis.

Volunteers for the National School Championships will be required across the 3 days, but if they are available for 1 day or even for half a day that would be fantastic! Experienced, qualified England Squash referees will be on hand to support all students and can provide opportunities to develop as a referee if desired. Lunch & refreshments will be provided and nominal expenses paid. We can also provide volunteering certificates as evidence of the work undertaken.

If you would like to sign up, or learn more, please contact Sandy Willmott.
