Basketball Level 2 Coaching Course (April & May 2015)

The University Sports Centre are looking at hosting a Basketball Level 2 course during April and May 2015. The course will cost around £145, and involves 24 hours of taught course content.

Each candidate will need to complete a log-book as part of the assessment with a minimum of 2 coaching sessions and 2 games supervised by a level 2 coach or PE teacher. In addition to the log book the candidate will be assessed via a written examination on aspects of coaching, basketball skills and team play and will be assessed practically conducting a coaching session and coaching a game.

Candidates should have a good prior knowledge of basketball (preferably with some coaching experience) and be comfortable with the fundamental skills, structure of the game and basic team play.

First Aid & Safeguarding Courses in December

Lincolnshire Sport will be hosting two courses in the Coach Education Suite over the next couple of weeks:

Emergency First Aid in Sport (Weds 3rd December, 6.30pm – 8.30pm)

Safeguarding & Protecting Children (Weds 10th December, 6.30pm – 9.30pm)

Each course is £30 for anyone with Lincolnshire Coach and Instructor Network membership (which is free). But we also have one free place for a University sports student for each course: if you would be interested in one of those places, please contact Dan Bishop as soon as possible.

Primary School Sports Coach at Multi Sport Pro (Deadline 8th Dec)

Multi Sport Pro have a vacancy for a full time Primary School Sports Coach. They are looking for experienced coaches who hold a minimum of a Level 2 national governing body coaching qualification, preferably with a degree in sports coaching or sports development as well.

The role will begin on 1st January 2015 and the application deadline is 8th December.

Swimming Teachers Needed, David Lloyd Lincoln (Deadline 30 Nov)

David Lloyd Leisure at Burton Waters are looking for responsible and hard-working students to join them as swimming teachers. You would teach swimming lessons as part of their swim school.

Applicants must hold an ASA Level 2 swimming teacher qualification

The post involves approx 15 hours of work per week at a salary of £12 per hour. The hours could all be done by one teacher or split between two, dependent upon the applicants’ availability and flexibility.

Free Places on Level 1 Cricket Umpires Course (Jan/Feb 2015)

A fantastic opportunity: Lincolnshire Cricket are generously offering University of Lincoln sports students three free places for their forthcoming Level One Cricket Umpires Course. Please read the below course information for further details.

The Level 1 course is for those who wish to start their umpiring journey by officiating for their club and in local leagues. No previous knowledge is expected but most of those who register will have played the game or done some sort of umpiring in the past. The course will also be of interest to those who wish to know more about the game and its laws.

The ECB ACO course book will be used to supplement various slides showing situations in cricket matches and there will be practical demonstrations where possible.

The course will be run by fully-qualified instructors.

Venue: Human Performance Centre, University of Lincoln, Brayford Pool, Lincoln, LN6 7TS

Dates: Four consecutive Saturdays from 17th January 2014 – 7th February 2014

Time: 10am – 5pm

Cost: Free for three successful UoL sports student applicants (Usual cost –  £80). Includes course materials, Laws of Cricket, the umpire’s ‘Bible’: Tom Smith’s Cricket Umpiring & Scoring, 12 months membership of ECB ACO (which includes insurance whilst umpiring) & 12 months membership of the Lincoln & District Umpires Association.

Before applying for one of the three available free places, you need to be able to commit to attending all scheduled sessions. Failure to do so will result in failing the course.
