Intern Opportunities at CrossFit Witham
CrossFit Witham have recently opened at a site off Dixon Street – about 15 minutes walk from campus – and they are keen to work with our students. A number of intern roles are potentially available: helping with strength & conditioning sessions or sports massage, or presenting one-off sports science workshops etc. These would probably be voluntary but would offer a great opportunity to acquire experience and learn more about running a business in the fitness sector. It would also help if you wanted to go on to seek CrossFit certifications.
If you might be interested in finding out more, please email Sandy Willmott first. We can then arrange a time to head down to their gym and discuss the possibilities with Adam Jones (one of the co-owners). More details of CrossFit Witham are available on their website or Facebook page.
IMPressing: Will Leadenham – Belvoir Cricket Trust
Will Leadenham (Sport Development & Coaching, Year 1) is volunteering in the Belvoir Bees programme at Harlaxton. He is working alongside three other coaches and Darren Bicknall (Ex-England Lions) to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of cricket to youngsters from the local area aged 6 onwards, with the goal of getting more youngsters involved and setting up youth teams.
“At the moment I assist with the delivery of the session plans and will take up to half the group, running through drills which are designed to introduce the basic techniques required to play the game. This process starts at junior level using Kwik Cricket equipment before after a couple of years progressing on to the hard ball format. I’m looking to get more involved with the set up at Grantham as well this year as it is run on a separate night.”
