Lincolnshire Sport Student Volunteering Programme

Lincolnshire Sport are offering a number of opportunities for students to become involved with sports volunteering in the county. Lincolnshire Show (June 2017)
Help set up and run the Lincolnshire Sport arena, which houses a number of partners and sporting providers over the two-day show. Volunteers may also be involved with marketing, surveying participants, or assisting with research that could be aligned with their studies.

School Games (July 9th 2017)
The focus of the Lincolnshire School Games is to engage more young people in high quality, meaningful school competition. They provide a year-round competition calendar, culminating in county festivals. Volunteers are vital to the success of the event and roles include event support, young volunteer mentoring, marshalling, school liaison, marketing and running activities.

County Ambassador Programme
CAP is a volunteering and leadership programme for Year 7 to Year 13 students. Part of this involves workshops for Year 9 and 10 students, and volunteers can become involve in shaping and delivering these events (alongside Lincolnshire Sport staff).

Sports Club Volunteering
Lincolnshire Sport collate information on opportunities where clubs are looking for support from volunteers. Roles could include coaching, marketing, officiating and scoring.

IMPACT
This project is designed to get more disabled people volunteering in sport, and local clubs and organisations can receive free training to help create a welcoming environment for disabled sports volunteers. Students are able to get involved with this initiative.

Workplace Challenge
Lincolnshire Sport organise the regional implementation of this national programme. Businesses and organisations compete through activities designed to promote health and active workplaces, and volunteers are needed to help ensure the competitions run smoothly.

Lincolnshire Sport Student Volunteer Alumni
Lincolnshire Sport will assess the capability, attitude and potential of students undertaking volunteer roles and this process can lead to students being invited to participate in the Student Volunteer Network. This exclusive group will have exclusive access to additional opportunities and higher-level roles. Some of these opportunities may include paid work with Lincolnshire Sport or their partners, and will feature the chance to gain interview and application experience.

Challenger Sports North American Soccer Camps (Summer 2017)

Challenger Sports are recruiting coaches to work in the USA and Canada in summer 2017. They are looking for coaches who are energetic, enthusiastic, have experience with coaching, self starters who love soccer and are keen to experience the excitement of travelling and working overseas which will also add experience and qualifications to their CVs.

Challenger Sports have been involved in the Soccer Camp industry for over 25 years and will employ over 1,300 British soccer coaches to coach over 240,000 boys and girls on soccer camps in over 3,600 locations for summer 2017. The company offers a structured career path for any individual interested in working and living in the USA. This starts with their Summer Camp season which lasts from six to twelve weeks each summer.

Coaches then have an opportunity to work for three to nine months on their Challenger Soccer Academy program. From the ranks of our summer and Challenger Soccer Academy Programs they select potential full time staff to work as Regional Director’s overseeing their British Soccer Camps or work within their Challenger Teamwear Divisions. There are also opportunities to work closer to home with their Challenger Sports UK Franchise program.

They will be holding a Midlands-area Recruitment Day at Loughborough University on 27th November. (The day will involve a 12 minute coaching assessment followed by personal interviews.)

Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis Internship Scheme

Arthritis Research UK Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis are offering an excellent opportunity for third-year students with an interest in research in sport, exercise and osteoarthritis (and who will graduate in 2017 with a first or upper second class degree).

The 8-week Internship Scheme provides the opportunities to:

  • Obtain first-hand experiences of multi-disciplinary research environments in one or more of their collaborative universities (Nottingham, Oxford, Bath, Leeds, Loughborough, UCL, Southampton)
  • Work alongside some of the UK’s leading medical and allied health researchers
  • Use state-of-the-art equipment
  • Receive formal education, supervision, evaluation and mentoring

Arthritis Research UK Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis

Part-time Multi Sports Coach, Hurricane Sports (Oct 14th)

Hurricane Sports are looking for a Part Time Sports Coach to deliver over a range of breakfast, lunchtime, afterschool clubs and PPA cover in primary schools in and around the Lincolnshire area.

These are paid positions with an incentive scheme, flexible working hours and ongoing training.
