Sports Volunteers Needed: St Giles Community Day (April 10th)

Volunteers are sought for a St. Giles Community Day on the 10th April, between 10am – 3pm. The Community Day is targeted at children under 13 and will include several small stations such as Archery, Obstacle courses, Football etc. The role of a volunteer would be to help set up, run and pack away small stations/activities that they feel competent in.

Volunteers for Badminton School Games (Sports Centre, Jan 25th)

Active Lincolnshire will be delivering a Badminton School Games event at the Sports Centre on Thursday 25th January, 2018 and are in need of some additional volunteers to co-ordinate the day. The event starts at 9:00am so you will be expected to be at the sports centre by 8:40am at the very latest. The event should be all wrapped up by 12:30pm.

If you can only commit to part of the event then any help would be very much welcomed. Register your willingness to help by emailing Alex Blackett (ablackett@lincoln.ac.uk) before 12 noon on Wednesday 24th January, 2018.

Any volunteering hours that you commit to for this event will be signed off and can go towards your Lincoln Award.

Lincolnshire Sport Student Volunteering Programme

Lincolnshire Sport are offering a number of opportunities for students to become involved with sports volunteering in the county. Lincolnshire Show (June 2017)
Help set up and run the Lincolnshire Sport arena, which houses a number of partners and sporting providers over the two-day show. Volunteers may also be involved with marketing, surveying participants, or assisting with research that could be aligned with their studies.

School Games (July 9th 2017)
The focus of the Lincolnshire School Games is to engage more young people in high quality, meaningful school competition. They provide a year-round competition calendar, culminating in county festivals. Volunteers are vital to the success of the event and roles include event support, young volunteer mentoring, marshalling, school liaison, marketing and running activities.

County Ambassador Programme
CAP is a volunteering and leadership programme for Year 7 to Year 13 students. Part of this involves workshops for Year 9 and 10 students, and volunteers can become involve in shaping and delivering these events (alongside Lincolnshire Sport staff).

Sports Club Volunteering
Lincolnshire Sport collate information on opportunities where clubs are looking for support from volunteers. Roles could include coaching, marketing, officiating and scoring.

IMPACT
This project is designed to get more disabled people volunteering in sport, and local clubs and organisations can receive free training to help create a welcoming environment for disabled sports volunteers. Students are able to get involved with this initiative.

Workplace Challenge
Lincolnshire Sport organise the regional implementation of this national programme. Businesses and organisations compete through activities designed to promote health and active workplaces, and volunteers are needed to help ensure the competitions run smoothly.

Lincolnshire Sport Student Volunteer Alumni
Lincolnshire Sport will assess the capability, attitude and potential of students undertaking volunteer roles and this process can lead to students being invited to participate in the Student Volunteer Network. This exclusive group will have exclusive access to additional opportunities and higher-level roles. Some of these opportunities may include paid work with Lincolnshire Sport or their partners, and will feature the chance to gain interview and application experience.
