Getting Started With Volunteering & IMPress!

With the start of a new academic year, there are a host of new opportunities for volunteering and/or paid work inside the University and around the city. If you would like to learn about these as they become available, then here are a few sources of information to follow:

1. This blog, where announcements of vacancies, coaching courses and more are made regularly.

2. The IMPress Twitter account – @IMPressLincoln – which shares information from other sources, as well as providing alerts anytime a new post is made on this blog.

3. The Students’ Union’s Volunteering Office post openings for voluntary work. Sport-related ones can be found under their Community > Sport listing: lincolnsu.com/volunteering/opportunities/community/sport . Also take a look at their main Get Involved hub under lincolnsu.com.

4. The many websites and Twitter accounts for sport-related openings listed under our Links page. Scroll down to “Jobs in Sport”.

5. For School of Sport & Exercise Science students, check the boards in the Human Performance Centre and the screens in the Sport Centre lobby.

6. Attend IMPress events and chat to students who are already involved in extracurricular work or who might share interests with you. Ask if you’d like to know whether the School have links to local clubs and organisations that you could take advantage of. Keep an eye out for this logo:

 

IMPress is the School’s group supporting students in finding extracurricular opportunities and other aspects of improving their employability. Student Engagement Opportunities

The Student Engagement Team are recruiting students to five roles:

These all offer the chance to take on a really interesting challenge, gain valuable experience, find out more about how the University works and help shape its future! More details of the different roles  – and the application process – can be found here.

Football Development Officer, Lincs FA (Deadline: 26th September)

The Lincolnshire Football Association have a vacancy for a Football Development Officer, who will be responsible for developing inclusive football across Lincolnshire in line with the National Game Strategy.

Level 2 Gymnastics Coach Required By Local School (from Sept)

A local primary school are looking for a suitably qualified gymnastics coach who could run an after school club from the end of September onwards. If you are interested, please contact Lindsay Brown asap. This would be an ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience which could also contribute towards the forthcoming APTC and CITC modules.

Volunteer Position: Sports Officer for the Law Society

The University of Lincoln Law Society is  looking for a current student to join their team as Sports Officer.

The role would be in their new sports division and would help to coach and manage their new football team. They’re looking for someone who has not only experience of coaching a football team, but also a real drive to develop what is a brand new team. The University of Lincoln Law Society is the largest academic society at Lincoln. Social sport is a new venture for the Society and Students’ Union as a whole. The Society aim to create, implement and run a new football team, with the aim of branching out in the future.
