Sports Leader Volunteer, Positive Futures

Positive Futures are looking for Sports Leaders to support their community sport delivery within local disadvantaged communities around the county. Areas of delivery are Boston, Gainsborough, Grantham, Boston, Lincoln North and South, Skegness and South Holland. Their sports sessions range from Dodgeball and football through to multi-sport and basketball. Lincolnshire County Council is a committed to supporting volunteers by offering out of pocket expenses.

Activities that the volunteer may be asked to assist with are:

Registering Young People
Completing Young Person Information
Supporting delivery of warm up
Delivery of main body of session
Cool down
Young person support
Motivation

SPOTS: Science Practitioner of Team Sports roles with Lincoln SU

The School have partnered with the SU to offer the chance for our students to work with University sports teams in a sports scientist capacity. The SPOTS practitioners will plan and deliver weekly sport science specific activities with a select sports team, which could be filming weekly matches and providing match analysis feedback, running sport specific fitness sessions during the clubs training session, technique analysis, psychology sessions etc.

Thirteen SPOTS positions are available this year and successful applicants will receive mentoring from Sandy Willmott and support from the SU (including a £100 bursary per term).

COTS: Coach of Team Sports roles available with Lincoln SU

The School have partnered with the SU to offer the chance for our students to work with University sports teams in a coaching capacity. The COTS practitioners will plan and deliver weekly coaching sessions specific to the select sports team, which could be running sport specific fitness sessions, team building activities, skills/drills sessions etc.

Seven COTS positions are available this year and successful applicants will receive mentoring from Alex Blackett and support from the SU (including a £100 bursary per term). Minimum requirement for applicants is a Level 1 coaching qualification.

Coaches Needed, Lincoln Disability Football Club

Lincoln Disability Football Club are looking for new coaches for the up coming season. These are volunteer posts to work within a disability football club working with all ages and abilities. The commitment is one hour per week on a Tuesday night (7-8pm) on the 3G pitch at Sincil Bank. The club would be able to help and guide through coaching badges.

Social Sports Activators & Sport Ambassadors, Univ. of Lincoln

The Students’ Union have a number of sport-related volunteering opportunities:

1) Social Sports Activators: one each for football and basketball, responsible for arranging and overseeing social games (1-2 hours per week)

2) Sport Ambassadors: help to grow participation in one of these sports – Basketball, Cricket, Dance, Hockey or Lacrosse (approx 4-5 hours per week)

Both of these offer a great opportunity to gain experience of sports development, project management and event planning…on campus!
