Update 27/7/15: Please note the extended deadline for applications.
Who are the bursaries for?
The School of Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Lincoln is very active in providing sport science support to local and national organisations and individuals, taking advantage of the Human Performance Centre’s state-of-the-art laboratories and strength and conditioning facilities. The School’s students are encouraged to become involved in the delivery of this support in order to gain the skills and experience that are crucial for successfully pursuing a career in applied sport science. Due to the rapid expansion of the School’s external consultancy activities, the opportunity has arisen for selected MSc Sport Science students to receive a bursary while building a diverse portfolio of applied work in disciplines that might include sports psychology, physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, nutrition and/or performance analysis.
Up to three Applied Sport Science Bursaries will be offered to exceptional students enrolling on the MSc Sport Science for the first time in the 2015/16 academic year.
What will the role involve?
Bursary recipients will contribute to, and at times possibly lead, the delivery of applied consultancy with external groups and laboratory support within the Human Performance Centre. The precise roles will depend upon the recipient’s area(s) of expertise and the particular opportunities that arise during the academic year, but sports that the School’s staff and students have supported this year have included kayaking, figure skating, triathlon, football, cycling, running, canoeing, golf, hockey, table tennis, netball and multisports.
Bursary value
£1,500, to be paid in three instalments over the course of the year. The bursary may be held alongside any other scholarships that the student would be eligible for.
