Salary:  Minimum wage approx 35-42.5hrs per week plus all food, drink and accommodation will be provided with a host family.  Payment is made at the end of the contract.

Accepted degree subjects:  teacher training and education; sports science / Sports development and coaching or equivalent

Location:  Italy – Tuscany

Working hours:  Varies depending on school – could change each week.  On average it is 9-4 Mon-Fri  & 9.30–12.30 Saturday but some start earlier and some later.  Some finish on a Friday.

Start date:  15th June – 11th July 2015.

Duration:  There may be the opportunity to work for just a couple of weeks, but we are mainly looking for people who can commit to the whole 4 weeks.

Job description

We are looking for native English-speaking sports teachers to support an English and drama summer school for one week in Tuscany.

You will be working with a small team of teachers, however you will be responsible for teaching classes of approximately 15-20 Italian primary or secondary students at a time, by yourself.  The emphasis of the week is on learning through fun activities. You will be required to help students work as a team. You will explain the rules of the games and names of pieces of equipment in English and encourage the pupils to learn the sporting terminology and speak in English throughout the session. Students can be boisterous and communication can be difficult.

All accommodation, food and drink will be provided by a host family.

Flights will be covered up to £100 in total.

A 2-3hr training session will be given prior to starting.

Tutors are required to hold a current first aid qualification.  If you do not have one but would like to accept the position we can arrange for you to attend a course.

Person requirements:  the role would suit a confident and outgoing individual who enjoys working with young people and has experience in controlling a class of pupils in a productive and engaging way. You must hold a DBS or be willing to get one.

England Golf Paid Internship (April to September 2015)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support England Golf‘s Championship and Performance departments in an administration role. This is a paid 6-month placement from April to September.

The Championship department runs national championships, scratch events and a wide range of handicap competitions for players of all ages and abilities.

The Performance department manages the National Squad Performance Programme with the aim of developing English golfers through a comprehensive support system and competitive play at a wide variety of tournaments in different conditions.

The Office Administrator (Intern) position will support the administration in both departments and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • Reliable data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Competence in the use of IT tools including spreadsheets, email and word processing
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Knowledge of the game of golf is not essential.

The post is full-time (Monday – Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm core hours) and is based at England Golf Headquarters, The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.

Salary Band 1 (£11,700 – £14,300 per annum, pro rata)

Multi-Sports Coach, Loughborough College (Deadline: Feb 4th)

Careers Presentation: Sports Development (Thursday 15th January)

On Thursday 15th January at 5.45pm we are delighted to be able to welcome back two of our graduates to lead a seminar on careers in sports development: Leanne Woodhead (a Development Officer at Nottinghamshire FA, and an SES graduate) and Fiona Houghton (Sports Development Team, Newark and Sherwood District Council, and an SDC graduate). Leanne and Fiona will be talking about their current roles, and also about how they gained the experience and contacts needed to pursue the careers they wanted. The advice and knowledge they will share will be of interest and value to students wanting to work in any field, and all students are encouraged to attend! The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

The seminar will be in the Human Performance Centre, and you do not need to book in advance. Everyone is welcome!

National Sports Roadshow in Lincoln (Thursday 12th February)

The School of Sport & Exercise Science is delighted to be hosting a National Sports Roadshow in the University of Lincoln Sports Centre and Human Performance Centre on Thursday 12th February.

NCR The Roadshow provides a platform for employers, students and professionals to interact with each other. It will feature a Careers Zone (with presentations and seminars on a wide range of careers in sport, exercise and health), a Sport & Fitness Zone, a Health Zone, and sports science workshops.
