Intern Opportunities at CrossFit Witham

CrossFit Witham have recently opened at a site off Dixon Street – about 15 minutes walk from campus – and they are keen to work with our students. A number of intern roles are potentially available: helping with strength & conditioning sessions or sports massage, or presenting one-off sports science workshops etc. These would probably be voluntary but would offer a great opportunity to acquire experience and learn more about running a business in the fitness sector. It would also help if you wanted to go on to seek CrossFit certifications.

If you might be interested in finding out more, please email Sandy Willmott first. We can then arrange a time to head down to their gym and discuss the possibilities with Adam Jones (one of the co-owners). More details of CrossFit Witham are available on their website or Facebook page.

– Real life experience delivering in the field which will enhance your résumé

Football coaches wanted – North Lindum Hawks FC

North Lindum Hawks FC have teams ranging from U7s to U16s who are in need of some committed and enthusiastic coaches to train them on Friday evenings.

All teams train at the Lincoln Christ Hospital School, Wragby Rd, Lincoln, LN2 4PN.

U7s, 8s,9s at 6pm-7pm

U10s, 11s at 7-8pm

U12, 13s at 8-9pm

Should you not have a current football coaching qualification then the club may be happy to pay for you to attend a local course but this is obviously dependant upon the time you can commit.  Ideally they are looking for students to commit over the next 18-24 months.  Home matches are at Yarborough Leisure Centre on Sundays. Attendance at weekend games is not essential however.

Should you be interested then please  contact Alex Blackett (ablackett@lincoln.ac.uk) stating your proposed commitment, preferred age group to coach along with any football coaching experience you may have which may include coaching qualifications.

Multi-Skills Coaching Opportunity (SDC1 and 2)

We have been asked to pass on an invitation from some SDC Yr 3 students who are looking for people willing to help deliver a multi-skills project. More details for this opportunity – which is only open to SDC Yr 1 and 2 students, I’m afraid – are as below. The deadline is January 17th, so move fast!

“We are currently year 3 students studying the Contemporary Issues in Physical Education module. As part of this module we are required to organise and carry out two multi-skills festivals around the Lincolnshire area. As you are aware competition in the sporting field is tough, we are providing an opportunity for you to gain some coaching experience and additional volunteering experience for your CV.

We are looking for 10 confident and reliable coaches to assist with these festivals. You will be required to lead and monitor a group of year 1 children around the stations.

The dates, locations and times are as follows:

Monday 20th January, 2014 – Cherry Willingham Community School (10.00-11.30am)

Friday 24th January, 2014 – The Priory City of Lincoln Academy (10.00-11.30am)

However we will be required to be there from 9.15am, should you require transport we have limited positions we can offer to commute with us. However if you and your friends have transport available and travel together this would be easier. For those who struggle with transport we will be in the sports centre ready to leave at: 8.30am as us organisers are required to be there early to set up.

If you are interested please contact Kay Noble (11210830@students.lincoln.ac.uk) with your availability for either of these dates before Friday 17th January, 2014.

Many Thanks,

Year 3 Project Team,
(Kay Noble, Elizabeth Kirk, Hannah Laws, Emma James and Kate Voice). “
